By building a more intelligent network, we aim to:
- Educate customers about how they can benefit from a more intelligent network
- Create products and services that are tailored to customer needs
- Enable greater visibility and control of electricity consumption
- Keep the power on by diverting power around issues on the network
- Reduce the duration of power outages
- Allow stored energy to be dispatched into the network to maintain quality of supply
- Allow customers to integrate renewable generation and other plug-and-play technology to reduce reliance on the electricity grid
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
It will take time to update our electricity network. We plan to work with customers as we progress, continuing to make it easier for them to benefit from a transformed network.
